Ep. 16 : TBD, Deidra Kling

The Unplugged Creative Podcast with Arielle Zadok Episode 8 Painter Illustrator and Silkscreen Artist Erika Wynn

Erika is a yogi mama full of heart who found herself with quick yet overwhelming success after a wine night with a girlfriend lead to her quitting her full time job to answer the demands she was getting for her art.

As a creative entrepreneur she’s had to ask herself everything from ‘is this cultural appropriation’ to ‘how can I make this product better’ to asking the hardest question of them all - ‘is this really what I want?’

If you are running your own creative business, this episode is definitely for you!

Listen to the end of the episode to catch and share Erika’s #UnpluggedCreativeChallenge with the community!

The work…

A note from Erika…

I've been painting and creating art in various forms since I can remember. My grandfather taught me the basics of painting as a child and I haven't stopped since. Art is a way for me to interpret and express my emotions and experiences. It's a way to tap into my inner world, process and meditate.

My work is ever evolving, from the medium to the tools. I'm inspired by philosophy, birth, and the energetic nature and connectivity of things.

I'm currently working on my extended yoga training for my 500 hour certification. Yoga informs my art and vice versa. They support each other and both practices lead me down a path of deeper discovery - both in my work and personal life.

PROVIDING TRANSCRIPTS FOR THE HEARING IMPAIRED

When I initially set out to do this podcast, I knew it was important to make it accessible to everyone whether they had excellent hearing or not. I believe accessibility is important and that those who speak sign language simply speak a different language than we do. Truth be told, getting transcripts done and then editing them and preparing them for the show notes is just too much for me to take on on top of producing and editing this podcast. At least right now.

So I want to ask for your help.

If you’d like to contribute to making this podcast accessible to all, you can become a member through Patreon. The approximate cost for transcriptions (no editing, just transcribing) each month is around $150 for two episodes. With different membership levels I know we can collectively make this happen and bring these conversations to more than those of us who were blessed with good hearing.

If you’d like to contribute, check out the Patreon Page here.

Thank you!
